Job Overview

Dallas International School (DIS) is accredited by ISAS (Independent Schools Association of the Southwest), France's Ministry of Education, and the International Baccalaureate Organization.

With approximately 700 students of over 30 nationalities, DIS is an international school on a human scale and the only one with a French and multilingual curriculum in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a city of seven million inhabitants which is in full demographic and economic expansion. The Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading and developing a successful volleyball program that promotes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character growth. The coach will create a positive and competitive environment while ensuring the safety and well-being of all student-athletes. The coach serves as a role model and representative of the school's mission, values, and athletic program.

Job duties include (but are not limited to):

• Coaching and Player Development
  • Plan and conduct organized, engaging, and age-appropriate practices.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced volleyball skills, strategies, and game concepts.
  • Develop players individually and collectively to maximize team performance.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect.
  • Evaluate student-athletes and make roster and playing-time decisions fairly and professionally.
  • Prepare teams for league, tournament, and postseason competition.

  Program Management

  • Attend and supervise all scheduled practices, games, tournaments, and team events.
  • Coordinate equipment needs and maintain proper inventory of uniforms and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with school, league, and governing body rules and regulations.
  • Assist with scheduling, transportation logistics, and event preparation as directed by the Athletics Director.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and team communication.

  Student Supervision and Safety

  • Prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of all student-athletes.
  • Follow all school policies regarding supervision, transportation, and emergency procedures.
  • Report injuries, incidents, and concerns promptly to the Athletics Director.
  • Ensure proper care and use of facilities and equipment.

  Communication and Professionalism

  • Maintain positive and professional communication with students, parents, colleagues, officials, and opponents.
  • Respond to parent and athlete inquiries in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Represent the school and athletic program in a positive manner at all times.
  • Attend coaches' meetings and professional development opportunities as required.

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or related field.
• Previous volleyball coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
• Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes of varying skill levels.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to successfully pass all required background checks.
• Ability to demonstrate volleyball skills and drills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout practices and competitions.
• Ability to lift and transport athletic equipment as needed.
• The Volleyball Coach is expected to model professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm while creating a positive experience for all student-athletes. The successful candidate will contribute to a culture that emphasizes excellence, personal growth, teamwork, and pride in representing the school.
