Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Furniture Builder to join our furniture manufacturing team. This position is responsible for building and assembling custom furniture pieces from raw materials and components while ensuring each finished product meets quality and design specifications.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with woodworking, carpentry, furniture assembly, or cabinetmaking and enjoys working with tools and building high-quality products.

Responsibilities

• Build and assemble custom furniture including tables, cabinets, seating, frames, and other specialty pieces.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, cut sheets, work orders, and assembly instructions.
• Measure and mark materials accurately using tape measures, squares, rulers, and other measuring tools.
• Cut, shape, drill, sand, and assemble wood and other furniture materials according to specifications.
• Operate woodworking equipment such as table saws, miter saws, band saws, drills, sanders, routers, and other power tools.
• Use hand tools and pneumatic tools to complete detailed furniture-building and assembly tasks.
• Assemble furniture components using screws, bolts, dowels, adhesives, brackets, and other fastening methods.
• Fit and align components to ensure proper dimensions, appearance, and functionality.
• Perform sanding, trimming, finishing, and other secondary operations as needed.
• Inspect completed furniture for proper fit, alignment, dimensions, finish, and overall quality.
• Identify defects, damage, or dimensional issues and make necessary adjustments or rework.
• Install hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, handles, brackets, casters, and other components.
• Work with a variety of materials including hardwoods, plywood, laminates, veneers, and other furniture materials.
• Safely operate and maintain woodworking machinery and tools.
• Maintain an organized inventory of materials, hardware, tools, and supplies.
• Keep the work area clean and organized throughout the production process.
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and equipment operating guidelines.
• Work closely with other builders, designers, production personnel, and supervisors to complete custom projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in furniture building, woodworking, carpentry, cabinetmaking, or a similar hands-on manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and detailed work instructions.
• Strong measuring skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and assemble materials.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to make adjustments when needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and work in various positions.
• Ability to lift and move furniture components and materials.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive cutting, sanding, drilling, and assembly tasks.
• Ability to wear required PPE and work safely around machinery, dust, and manufacturing equipment.
