POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the VP of AI and Analytics in the Information Technology Department, this position will work closely with the in-house Digital Asset Manager in the Collections Department to define requirements, procure, and install a DAM solution that will serve as the primary repository for the Museum’s digital assets. The Data Analyst will also partner with in-house developers, the server administration team, and external consultants to integrate, maintain, and keep the DAM software current through updates, patches, and upgrades.

In addition to DAMS responsibilities, you will be managing the governance model for a data platform, defining the metrics that carry institutional weight, keeping an 18-month migration on schedule against a hard deadline, and ensuring that every piece of analysis the organization uses has a clear definition, a named owner, and an audit trail. Remote work is supported up to two days per week, or as approved by the position’s supervisor. This is a full-time, one-year position with the possibility of renewal; however, continued employment beyond the one-year term is not guaranteed.

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s permanent collection is an unparalleled repository consisting of material evidence, first-person testimony, and historical records of the response to the February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and their ongoing repercussions. To date, the Museum has acquired more than 74,000 tangible and digital objects that document the experiences of 9/11 victims, survivors, and responders. The Museum also collects paper-based and digital archives and has begun to assemble an institutional archive documenting the organization’s history. In addition to this, there are various assets stored on the Museum’s NFS shares, various CMSs, and servers that the DAM would need to plug into to as well.

This is a Leon Levy Grant-funded position with a one-year term. While there is a possibility of extension, employment beyond that term is not guaranteed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Work very closely with the Digital Asset Manager in maintaining the DAM application and play a key role in the identification, procurement, and deployment of the DAM solution.
• Identify all the key digital assets of the Museum and produce clean documentation to present to stakeholders all the different assets that the DAM software can be used for.
• Work closely with IT to ensure the DAM software has the necessary storage configured and ensure that the data is backed up routinely and can be retrieved as necessary.
• Identify the high-priority content for ingestion by working alongside the key stakeholders and create a detailed plan for routine ingestion of data into the DAM solution.
• You will lead metric definition workshops with department heads across fundraising, marketing, visitor operations, education, and finance, producing complete definitions (calculation logic, grain, dimensions, edge cases, business owner) that the engineering team builds against.
• Contribute to data warehouse structure and design, ensuring data is organized and accessible for business users.
• You will hold source system owner teams accountable for data quality remediation, and when they are not delivering, escalation is part of your job.
• Collaborate with the VP of AI and Analytics and IT team to align data engineering work with the organization’s broader analytics roadmap.
• Create, document, and manage test plans, test cases, and automation scripts.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENT

• Bachelors or Master’s degree.
• 5+ years in a product management, data governance, analytics program management, or data operations role.
• Experience with configuring and maintaining DAM applications is a plus.
• Familiarity with Content Management systems is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience defining and documenting business metrics in collaboration with non-technical stakeholders. You understand what makes a metric definition complete and what makes it useless.
• Exceptional written communication. The metric definitions you produce will be the organization's single source of truth for its most important KPIs.
• Experience with data dictionaries, metadata management, or governance frameworks is a meaningful plus.
• Excellent project management and organizational, follow-through and communication skills, including proven ability to multitask, make decisions, and adhere to project timelines.
• Experience working with Github.
• Ability to pick up new technologies with ease.

REQUIRED SUPPORT FOR ORGANIZATIONAL EVENTS

• Participates in the Annual 5K Fundraiser and 9/11 Commemoration, as assigned.
• Assists with other special projects and events in support of all 9/11 Memorial and Museum, as assigned.
