Database Administrator (DBA)

Salary: $120,000 - 180,000 per year Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with at least one major relational database platform, especially PostgreSQL; experience with MySQL or Oracle is also valuable
- Solid understanding of core DBA operations, including backups, replication, security, user administration, and logging
- Foundational performance tuning experience, with intermediate-level tuning ability preferred
- Basic working knowledge of Linux systems, including filesystem structure, memory and disk usage, and OS-level utilities
- Experience using configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible
- Experience working with both on-premises and cloud database environments
- Experience with database-specific monitoring
- Exposure to containerized environments such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes for database workloads
- Familiarity with Ceph RBD or similar distributed storage backends
- Understanding of modern big data technologies or formats such as Hadoop, Parquet, or RocksDB
- Knowledge of Linux networking fundamentals, including troubleshooting ports, connections, and interfaces
- Experience with cloud-managed database services such as AWS RDS, Azure Database, or Google Cloud SQL
- Familiarity with scripting or development in BASH, Java, or Python for database automation
- Experience with monitoring and alerting systems
- Administer, observe, and support relational databases in both production and development environments
- Carry out routine database operations such as backups, restores, schema updates, patching, upgrades, and security hardening
- Support incident handling, root cause investigation, and recovery for database-related problems
- Contribute to automation, configuration management, modernization, and operational improvements
- Track and analyze database health, performance, and reliability
- Partner closely with systems and infrastructure teams to understand storage, operating system, and networking factors that affect database performance
