Staff Physician- Cardiology

Board Eligible/Board Certified Cardiologist

The Detroit VA Medical Center is searching for a Board Eligible/Board Certified Full-time Cardiologist to serve on the staff of a very active academic cardiology section with clinical strengths in Invasive Cardiology and Diagnostic Cardiology. Skills in the performance, supervision and interpretation of cardiac imaging studies, including nuclear cardiology, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography are required. Opportunity exists to perform diagnostic cardiac catheterization but not therapeutic coronary or structural interventions. In addition to cardiac imaging, clinical duties include managing patients on the inpatient ward and outpatient specialty clinics. In support of VA's teaching mission, the incumbent will provide supervisory oversight of fellows, residents, and medical students. Candidates with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and passion for mentoring are desired.

The Detroit Outpatient Clinic offers the full spectrum of noninvasive Cardiology care, including daily outpatient Cardiology clinic, interpretation of exercise stress tests, echocardiograms, ECGs, and Holter monitors. The Physician duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• See new and returning cardiac patients, document, and code in the Computerized Patient Record System CPRS.
• Answer phone and E-consult cardiology requests from Jacksonville and associated CBOCs.
• Supervise Medical Instrument Technicians and interpret ECG, Stress Test and transthoracic echocardiograms.
• Supervise administering echo contrast or bubble contrast during echocardiograms as needed, and interrogate cardiac devices (after appropriate training).
• Help with remoted ECG, ETT, Holter and echo reading as needed systemwide.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM
