Lead Infrastructure Engineer

Lead Infrastructure EngineerWe're looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to define what great infrastructure looks like at Atticus and build the platforms and tooling that help engineers ship fast without breaking things. You'll be our second infrastructure engineer, working with Jereme to shape our technical foundations from the ground up — setting the vision, building the systems, and establishing the practices that will support Atticus for years to come. You'll own infrastructure as a product, serving Atticus's product engineering teams as your customers. This means:Shaping our infrastructure roadmap — developing a clear vision for where our infra needs to go and driving progress toward itBuilding security and operational foundations — laying the groundwork for sustainable growthImproving reliability — reducing MTTR, establishing SLOs, bringing rigor to how we manage outagesEmpowering product teams — you'll build the platforms and tools that let them own their systems end-to-endThis is a senior IC role reporting directly to Toby, our VP of Engineering. You'll have a major hand in shaping our infrastructure strategy — and you'll also be writing code and shipping directly. We're a 20-person engineering team, so there's no layer of abstraction between you and the work.Required:5+ years in infrastructure / SRE / platform engineering roles, with breadth across infra disciplines. We're looking for an infra generalist, not a deep specialist in one narrow area.Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)Strong software engineering fundamentals. You approach infrastructure with a builder's mindset.Technical breadth across infra domains: networking, security, observability, CI/CD, database operations, containerization. We don't expect you to be an expert in everything, just knowledgeable enough to be effective on a small team without other specialists.Experience with consumer-facing, revenue-critical systems, though you don't need FAANG-scale experience.Bonus / Nice-to-Have:You've led infrastructure evolution at a growing startup, not just maintained existing systems. Ideally on a small team (<5 infra engineers). You're excited by environments with little structure — where you're expected to understand the bigger picture, cut through ambiguity, and figure out what matters most.We are strongly committed to building a diverse team. If you're from a background that's underrepresented in tech, we'd love to meet you.Salary and BenefitsThis is a rare opportunity to join a startup that has strong traction (substantial funding, well-respected backers, tremendous growth, and many happy customers) but is still small enough that you can have a huge impact and play a role in shaping our culture. We're a certified B Corporation tackling a critical social problem. Our mission to help people in need drives everything we do, and your work here will touch many lives. We offer competitive pay — including equity — and generous benefits:Medical and dental insurance with 100% of employees and their families premiums covered15 vacation days & ~20 paid holidays each year (including two weeks at the end-of-year)Free membership to OneMedical$600/year internet stipend$1,000 reimbursable stipend for education and training outside of workUp to $1,200/year student loan repayment assistance401(k) and optional HSA/FSAHumble, thoughtful, smart, fun colleaguesWe anticipate the base salary band for this role will be between $170,000 and $220,000 in addition to equity and benefits.
