Psychiatric Emergency Clinician

Scope Of Position OSU Harding Hospital/East Hospital‑Talbot Hall provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for adults in central Ohio. All psychiatric emergency, behavioral health urgent care, inpatient, outpatient, IOP, and partial hospitalization services include a comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis by a qualified clinician, and implementation of an individualized treatment plan. Services cover mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive‑compulsive disorder, psychosis, trauma‑related disorders, and sexual dysfunction. Specialty programs include women’s behavioral health, addictions, trauma, adolescent school‑based, and neurocognitive disorders. Talbot Hall also offers the region’s most comprehensive addiction services, including a specialized evidence‑based treatment program for substance use disorders and trauma‑brain‑injury specific care. Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), a multi‑disciplinary team within the Medical Center Emergency Departments, provides face‑to‑face or telemedicine mental health and substance use evaluations, crisis assessments, and short‑term psychotherapy to adult patients presenting with psychiatric emergencies. PES facilitates linkage to inpatient, partial, and outpatient services and maintains a collaborative relationship with other programs, the Emergency Department, and community behavioral health facilities. Position Summary Complete comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for patients with mental health, addiction, and crisis‑related complaints. Provide brief crisis stabilization, counseling, and psychotherapy to individuals with mental and behavioral disorders to facilitate return to previous or improved functioning. Conduct evidence‑based suicide, crisis, and risk assessments and interventions. Formulate individualized treatment plans to help patients determine and meet treatment goals. Assess patient needs and coordinate linkage with necessary services and community resources. Assist with the PES intake and admitting function, insurance verification, precertification, and telephone consultation to referral sources; advocate within the local community; maintain third‑party payer relationships; and complete all necessary paperwork (e.g., disability, FMLA). Qualifications Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling. Current Ohio professional licensure required (LSW or LPC). 0 years of relevant experience required; 0–2 years preferred. Experience in crisis intervention and inpatient psychiatric care desired. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical examination may be required during the post‑offer process.
