About the Position

Job Opportunity – Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN – West Virginia

Start Date: October 1, 2026

Location: Charleston, West Virginia

Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts; weekdays with every other weekend required; 36 hours guaranteed; float within scope as needed

Highlights:

• 39-bed Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric populations in a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Specialized cardiac patient care including acute MI, unstable angina, CHF, unstable arrhythmias, CVA, and surgical patients
• Combination inpatient and observation unit (average 50/50 split) with high patient turnover
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 (may flex to 1:6-7 with LPN backup support during unforeseen circumstances)
• Cerner EMR system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Orientation held every other Thursday; free parking provided for travelers

Requirements:

• Active West Virginia or Compact RN License (pending license accepted for submission)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience; minimum 1 year medical surgical or telemetry specialty experience required
• BLS/BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred (must be through American Heart Association)
• Post-Cardiac Cath, Post-Angiogram, and PTCA experience required
• Working proficiency with critical drips: heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Two manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medical exemption provided
• Must reside 100+ miles from facility (75-99 miles may be considered case-by-case)
