Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Acute Rehabilitation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active IL license required Certifications: BLS (AHA) required Must-Have: Strong Neuro Skills Description: The unit has 29 beds. Staffing ratios are 5:1 during the day and 6:1 at night. Common diagnoses include neuro, neurosurgery, amputations, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases. The RN will not be required to titrate drips, except for heparin. Telemetry is available but not monitored by RNs; telemetry packs are used. RNs are required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab. There are house supervisors available, but no charge nurses. Nurse aides are present on the unit with a ratio of 1:9 or 1:10. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy services are provided. Respiratory equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP for sleep apnea. Shifts are from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required. There are no call or standby requirements. Floating to other units is required; however, floating to specific areas requires additional training. Scrub color is flexible, but no t-shirts are allowed unless approved. Orientation includes two days of class followed by 2-3 days with a preceptor. Familiarity with specific rehab documentation is necessary. The nursing staff utilizes an electronic charting system.
