Perform duties including but not limited to: Provide direct nursing and psychiatric care to residents and give direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) Assess health care needs, initiate and direct implementation of nursing treatment plans to meet established goals for each resident Integrate nursing goals into interprofessional practice (IPP) Monitor health and safety status of residents on assigned shift Assist in emergencies (first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), psychotropic emergencies, etc.) Record and report unusual behaviors and/or conditions to physicians, supervisor, and other appropriate personnel Implement physician’s orders and assist with medical procedures as necessary Ensure medication and treatment are administered according to policy, including actual medication administration Provide professional judgment and intervention as needed Monitor closely residents requiring acute care as necessary Ensure proper maintenance and security of the night drug cupboard as appropriate Assume primary nursing responsibility for residents assigned, including nursing treatment planning and chart audits Participate in related meetings as required by Supervisor Communicate medical information to parents/guardians when appropriate Mandatory overtime is required.
