Position Overview
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and managing medications for animal patients under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. This role supports the medical team by ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all pharmacy-related tasks while maintaining a high standard of patient care

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications as prescribed by veterinarians
- Accurately calculate dosages based on species, weight, and condition
- Maintain and manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and tracking expiration dates
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging of all medications
- Provide clear instructions to clients on medication administration
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical and prescription records
- Comply with all federal, state, and DEA regulations regarding controlled substances
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with medication-related questions and treatment plans
- Handle prescription refills and communicate with clients regarding medication needs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area
- Identify and report discrepancies or concerns related to medications or inventory
Qualifications (Required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Veterinary assisting or pharmacy technician experience
- Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology and common medications
- Strong math and calculation skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems preferred
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology and common medications.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Capability to lift and restrain animals as needed (with assistance when appropriate)
- Manual dexterity for handling medications and equipment
Work Environment:
- Veterinary hospital
- Exposure to animals, including those that may be stressed or in pain
- Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases and hazardous materials (with proper safety protocols)
Schedule:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays
Mondays, Tuesdays and afternoons for Wednesday-Friday
Wednesday-Friday shifts are flexible and can be determined based on availability
