Buttercream Cakes is a St. Paul studio building custom cakes and dessert experiences for weddings, celebrations, and corporate events across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and beyond. Decorating isn't a station here — it's the whole reason people choose us. And we're bringing on our Head Cake Decorator: the most skilled hands in the shop, the artist we trust with the cakes that have to be perfect.

This is a top-of-craft role. Not sheet cakes on repeat — real design work, a new challenge on the bench most days, and the trust to own it.

What you'd actually be doing:
• Decorating our most important cakes start to finish: wedding tiers, sculpted and 3D builds, custom showpieces, the orders other shops turn down.
• Laying down buttercream that speaks for itself — smooth sides, sharp edges, clean lettering and borders.
• Engineering tiered and sculpted cakes that stay flawless from our bench to the venue table.
• Working fondant with confidence — covering, accents, sugar flowers, fine detail.
• Matching color, design, and detail exactly to what the customer approved.
• Setting the finishing standard the rest of the decorating team works toward.
• Running your own queue so every pickup and delivery lands on time, even in wedding season.

What tells us you're the one:
• 4+ years decorating professionally in a custom or high-volume bakery — this is the floor, not the ceiling.
• Buttercream mastery. Your finish is the reason people book twice.
• Fondant, tiered, and sculpted work in your bones — required, not a nice-to-have.
• An eye for proportion and color, and the discipline to nail a spec exactly, every time.
• Cool under a deadline. Reliable. Easy to build a team around.
• Food safety know-how (ServSafe a plus). Weekend availability as needed during our busy stretches.

Formal culinary training is welcome but optional. What we're really hiring is your hands and your standards.
