Temporary Part-Time School Counselor (K-8)

The School Counselor supports the social, emotional, and developmental well-being of students in 1st through 8th grade. Working collaboratively with faculty, administration, and families, the counselor provides short-term counseling support, consultation, and guidance services that foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment.

This interim position is part-time, averaging up to 10 hours per week, and is intended to provide continuity of student support during temporary staff leave.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.

• Valid school counselor certification, counseling license, or eligibility for certification/licensure preferred.

• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged students.

• Knowledge of child development, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed practices.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an independent, private, or Waldorf school setting.

• Familiarity with restorative practices and whole-child educational approaches.

• Experience collaborating closely with teachers and families to support student success.

Schedule & Compensation

• Part-time.

• Temporary interim position.

• Up to 10 hours per week, between September and December, 2026.

• Flexible scheduling in coordination with school administration.

• Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
