PRN C Respiratory Therapist

Newport News, Virginia – The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the planning, executing and evaluating the total Respiratory Care of assigned patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner utilizes evidence‑based Respiratory Care Practice to care for each patient based on their physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Working under the direction of the leadership team, this role provides respiratory services that meet the standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and aligns with facility goals and strategic plans. The practitioner ensures safe practices referenced in National Patient Safety Goals and supports best practices recommended by the American Association of Respiratory Care. What You Will Do Assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the Respiratory Care Plan. Utilize proper infection control techniques in performance of duties and in accordance with departmental procedures. Collaborate with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans and evaluate progress of the treatment. Complete all documentation and ensure all orders are current, completed, or discontinued. Participate in and assist with meetings, projects, and in‑services related to improving RHS Respiratory Care Services. Qualifications Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (Required) or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (Required) Experience: 1 year Respiratory Therapy (Required) Licenses and Certifications: CPR/BLS Certification (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute) upon hire (Required) Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Virginia Department of Health Professions upon hire (Required) ACLS Provider – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute within 1 Year (Required) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – The National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire (Required) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) – The National Board for Respiratory Care (Preferred) Other Requirements: Weekend shifts; irregular shifts #J-18808-Ljbffr
