Job Title

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until SEP 14 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be JUL 27 2026 with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Duties

Direct Patient Care: Provide hands-on care for both inpatients and outpatients dealing with pulmonary or critical care issues.

Patient-Centered Medical Care: Utilize both the art and science of medicine to deliver care that is centered on the patient.

High-Value and Team-Based Care: Deliver medical care that is efficient and cost-effective, and that involves working effectively in a team setting.

Palliative and Hospice Services: Incorporate palliative care and hospice principles as necessary for patient care.

Teaching: Engage in teaching medical students, residents, and other healthcare trainees who rotate through the pulmonary/critical care service.

Research and Academic Activities: Participate in clinical research and other academic endeavors, associated with both the VA and affiliated academic institutions.

Interpersonal Skills: Exhibit interpersonal skills that improve the effectiveness and success of the medical service.

Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills appropriate for the responsibilities of the position.

Participation in Hospital Activities: Engage in various hospital and medical staff activities, including accreditation, quality assessment and improvement projects, committee work, and participation in programs like EPRP, ORYX, HEDIS, and SAIL.

Consult Management and Documentation: Function effectively within the VA's consult management systems, utilize order sets, document properly in CPRS (Computerized Patient Record System), and comply with other electronic medical record requirements.
