Compensation: Approximately $195,000 - $242,000 per year. All individual pay rates are calculated based on the candidate's experience and internal equity.

Overview of Role:

Provide high quality medical care that is culturally appropriate and prevention focused. Serve as a leader on the pod contributing to the smooth, efficient operation of the pod, the site, and the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a program of high quality, comprehensive health for the family, to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
• Prepare and review medical histories and obtain data through interviews.
• Examine patients, formulate differential diagnostic plans, define and order required diagnostic testing. Interpret examination findings and test results, and implement treatment plans.
• Determine need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment and consult other specialists as needed.
• Manage family practice inpatients, conduct rounds, and prescribe inpatient therapy. Participate in surgical, obstetrical, gynecological, and critical care procedures according to training and demonstrated ability.
• Provide supportive and definitive care to patients with serious medical conditions with appropriate consultation, based on documented and demonstrated proficiency.
• Assist in the revision of clinical practice guidelines and Scope of Practice when needed.
• Expand and maintain rapport with the medical community in the service area.
• Communicate with health & human services agencies, local governments, and community organizations as needed.
• Provide responsive off-hours medical services physically or by phone when the clinic is closed, if applicable.
• Acquire and maintain hospital privileges at the local hospital when participating in the call pool is part of the physician's FTE.
• Support and teach team members at the site. Teach students enrolled in a relevant health profession training program.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, and stay current with changes in this area.
• Provide Human Resources staff the needed documentation, paperwork, and signatures to complete credentialing and privileging.
• Be respectful and responsive to staff and patients.
• Handle ongoing daily clinical work in a timely and thorough manner.
• Exhibit positive leadership skills on and off the pod.
• Collaborate well with teammates on a clinical, managerial, and administrative level.
• Use the electronic health record, registries, and templates effectively.

Position Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

1. MD/DO, board certified/board eligible in Family Practice Medicine.
2. Valid license/DEA in jurisdiction of clinic, certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. One year of experience in ambulatory health care preferred
2. Sensitivity to low income, ethnic minority communities preferred
3. Entry level proficiency in the Spanish language required.
4. Computer proficiency electronic health record experience preferred.
5. Ability to flourish in a team system.
