Charge Nurse (RN) - ICU - Intensive Care Unit - $36-58 per hour

Position ICU - Intensive Care Unit Charge Nurse (RN) – Saint Peters, Missouri About the Role This is an ongoing, staff‑level, full‑time night shift position in a 12‑bed Medical ICU. Benefits are available to this role. Responsibilities Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and serves as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates, and documents the nursing process for the assigned unit as required. Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization through discharge and into ambulatory care. Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults with the interprofessional team as appropriate. Leads the development and implementation of complex individual care plans with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members, patients, families, or caregivers, in accordance with established guidelines and nursing care standards. Applies expert holistic clinical knowledge and skill to anticipate and prioritize complex care needs, identify barriers, incorporate team and family input, and seek opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Champions evidence‑based practices, participating in journal club, facilitating practice change, recommending new or revised standards of care, conducting literature searches, and disseminating knowledge from conferences or continuing education. Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice through community service events, patient/family education groups, advisory boards, ethics committees, adjunct faculty roles, and leadership positions in specialty organizations. Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers and leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads the evaluation of patient and family experience and adjusts care to improve satisfaction and quality of care. Recognizes BJC has determined this a safety‑sensitive position; maintains alertness and safe practice as an essential function. Minimum Requirements Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing; 2‑5 years of nursing experience. Active RN license. No supervisory experience required. Preferred Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; 5‑10 years of nursing experience.
