About the Role
The Company is in search of a VP, Funds Counsel to provide expert legal guidance on the formation, structuring, and operation of various investment funds, including registered and alternative vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a range of fund documents, advising on regulatory matters, and supporting fundraising efforts and compliance initiatives. This role requires a proactive and business-minded lawyer with a strong understanding of fund structures, offering documents, and regulatory frameworks, particularly those impacting private funds. The VP, Funds Counsel will also be expected to collaborate closely with internal teams and manage external counsel relationships strategically. Applicants for the VP, Funds Counsel position at the company should hold a J.D. from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. A minimum of 4 years of legal experience focused on registered funds or mutual funds is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in a law firm, in-house, or a combination of both. The role demands excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills, as well as the ability to operate with autonomy and sound judgment. An interest in a collaborative, high-growth environment is essential, as the company values a proactive approach to risk and the ability to partner with both internal and external stakeholders in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial setting.
