Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist
Contract-to-Hire | Full-Time | Onsite in Pittsburgh, PA Rotating Shifts: Days & Evenings (EST) Pay Rate: 18-20+/hr (depending on experience level) Oxford Solutions is seeking a Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist to join a growing pharmacy support team in Pittsburgh. In this role, you will help patients gain timely access to needed medications by processing prior authorizations and insurance verifications quickly and accurately. You will collaborate with medical offices, prescribers, and patients while ensuring a high level of customer service.
Responsibilities
- Initiate new prior authorization requests with providers
- Identify and complete correct insurance and provider forms
- Coordinate with prescribers to submit requests
- Follow up with medical offices to track status of authorizations
- Communicate updates clearly to patients and providers
- Support appeal processes when necessary
- Provide assistance to internal teams regarding prior authorizations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required (Bachelor's degree a plus)
- Minimum 1 year of prior authorization experience in a pharmacy setting (required)
- Knowledge of pharmacy benefits and claims processes
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving abilities
- Proficient with computer systems and data entry
- Ability to work rotating day/evening shifts
