Marching Band Drill Writer Title: Marching Band Drill Writer Location: Marple Newtown High School Units: 8 Number of Positions: 1 Effective: 2026–2027 School Year Marching Band is a club that is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers the students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships. Qualifications Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events. Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills. Education: Valid PA teaching certificate. Ability to work with students of all ability levels. Essential Functions A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members. Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion. Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships. Advisors will supervise all club-related events and meetings. Design and develop marching band drill that aligns with the musical selection and overall show concept, ensuring effective staging, transitions, and visual impact. Utilize drill design software to create, revise, and communicate drill charts and coordinate sheets in a clear and timely manner for instructional staff and students. Collaborate with the Marching Band Director and instructional staff to ensure alignment of drill with musical phrasing, visual elements, and performance goals. Support implementation of drill during rehearsals by assisting with teaching formations, adjusting staging as needed, and ensuring student safety and effective use of performance space. Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies. Other duties as assigned by Administration. Frequency of meetings: September – June; meet 1/week for an hour; 8-10 events per year. Approximate number of students enrolled: Approximately 40 students.
