Explains University and College policies. Provides guidance and trains entry-level advisors. May teach compass course as needed. Additional Department Summary: Provides proactive, holistic academic advising, case management, and support for undecided freshmen in the University's Crimson Edge and Exploring 4 Success programs. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of academic advising experience; OR master's degree and some academic advising experience. Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work with various groups of people. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Public speaking skills. Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management. Good planning, coordinating, and organizing skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures. Knowledge of advising and academic management software (Banner, DegreeWorks, onBase, MS Office, etc). Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or at least 18 graduate semester hours in a teaching discipline in areas including STEM, Business, Higher Education, Student Development, or related fields. Experience advising, case managing and supporting undecided, undeclared, and/or exploratory students. Experience advising, case managing and supporting underprepared new freshmen students. Program design and development experience.
