Senior KYC Investigator - Ongoing Due Diligence

Mercury is the fintech startups use for banking* and all their financial workflows. This turns out to be a pretty wild endeavor, so we’re looking to bring someone sharp onto our Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD) team to help us out. We are seeking a thoughtful and detail-oriented Senior Risk Investigator to join our team. In this role, you will support strategic initiatives that strengthen ODD’s KYC risk program and controls while ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. You will help enhance existing operational workflows and develop new KYC/EDD controls to support upcoming product launches and processes. Additionally, you will also partner closely with cross-functional teams to evolve Mercury’s KYC program by implementing automation, introducing new controls, and building scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency while minimizing customer friction. This role reports directly to the ODD KYC Lead and is supported by a highly collaborative and experienced Risk team.*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.Here are some things you’ll do on the job:Lead the development and implementation of new operational processes, creating comprehensive procedures to support BPO outsourcing and executionPartner cross-functionally with Compliance, BSA, Product, Risk Strategy, and other teams to enhance Mercury's ongoing due diligence program and drive operational efficiency through data and technologyContinuously refine and standardize desktop procedures for various KYC workflows to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and regulatory complianceSupport complex KYC Refresh and related workflow cases as needed to ensure accurate and consistent executionIdentify opportunities to reduce unnecessary case volume by proposing auto-clearing logicMaintain and enhance metric dashboards to monitor control performance, remediation status, and operational effectivenessYou should:Have 3 - 5 years of experience related to KYC, Risk Investigations, AML, or SanctionsHave 2+ years of experience building programs or processesBe a highly motivated self-starter, comfortable working within a high risk environment under minimal supervisionHave a strong understanding of Financial Services (or any other highly regulated) environmentsHave experience in managing customer-facing queues to support excessive caseloads and/or handle customer escalations as requiredHave experience with KYC Verification Software (such as Alloy, MidDesk, Socure, etc) Love problem solving and making teams, products, and processes more efficientBe curious about the US banking system, startups, and ecommerce companiesMercury values diversity & belonging and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area:$106,200—$132,800 USDUS employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $95,600—$119,500 USDCanadian employees (any location):$100,400—$125,500 CAD
