Job Title: Welder (MIG/Flux, Training Opportunity in TIG) Job Description
This role focuses on MIG and flux-core welding on stainless and carbon steel pressure vessels in a job shop environment, with the opportunity to train into TIG welding over time. You will work on a wide variety of projects, using blueprints and welding symbols to produce high-quality welds in all positions on steel of varying thicknesses.
Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and flux-core welding on stainless and carbon steel components for pressure vessels.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to determine weld requirements and sequence.
• Weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) while maintaining high quality and consistency.
• Work with steel thicknesses ranging from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch and adjust techniques accordingly.
• Assist with fitting and fabrication of structural and pressure vessel components prior to welding.
• Use hand tools and equipment such as grinders, tape measures, and layout tools to prepare and finish welds.
• Follow established procedures and job expectations to meet production goals and quality standards.
• Work with mild steel, structural steel, and carbon steel materials as required.
• Collaborate with a small team of welders and shop personnel to complete a variety of projects.
• Adhere to all safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of welding and fabrication equipment.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of MIG or flux-core welding experience OR a recognized welding certification.
• Proficiency in MIG welding on stainless and carbon steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately.
• Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead).
• Experience working with steel thicknesses between 1/4 inch and 3/4 inch.
• Basic fabrication skills, including fitting and structural work.
• Ability to use hand tools and shop equipment such as grinders, tape measures, and presses.
• Capability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding shop work.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality welds.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small welding team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• TIG welding experience or strong interest in learning TIG welding.
• Submerged arc (Sub-Arc) welding experience.
• Pressure vessel or pressure valve fitting experience.
• Experience with structural steel welding and fabrication.
• Familiarity with stick welding processes.
• Experience operating shop equipment such as plate rolls, brake presses, drill presses, and horizontal boring mills.
• Comfort working in a unionized, job shop environment with varied projects.
• Willingness to work overtime, including some Saturdays and occasional Sundays during busy periods.

Work Environment
This is a unionized job shop environment focused on manufacturing pressure vessels, with a variety of projects and changing tasks throughout the week. The shop is equipped with plate rolls, brake presses, drill presses, a horizontal boring mill, and multiple welding stations, including TIG, stick, MIG, Sub-Arc, and flux-core MIG. You will work alongside approximately 10 other welders and collaborate closely with a floor foreman. The position is on first shift, with rotating start times each week, typically working 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Overtime is common on Saturdays, and during busy seasons there may be occasional Sunday work depending on orders. Steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and appropriate welding gear are required; all tools are provided by the company. The environment emphasizes safety, union standards, and hands-on, shop-floor collaboration.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $29.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
