Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract. Contract lengths of 13-20 weeks accepted. Patient ratio 1:5-6.

Highlights:

• Comprehensive Med/Surg/Telemetry unit with diverse case mix including COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, GI bleed, CVA, post-surgical patients, and typical medical/surgical diagnoses
• Advanced skills utilized including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin and heparin protocols, blood product administration, wound vac, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and CPAP/BiPAP
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication dispensing and SBAR communication protocols
• Robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, rapid response teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and phlebotomy
• 24-hour orientation program with comprehensive onboarding support
• Opportunity to work with a dedicated team caring for adults and geriatric populations in a 41-bed unit

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg and Telemetry experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Proficiency in remote telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, central and peripheral line management, PICC line care, colostomy and feeding tube management, blood product administration, wound care including wound vac, airway management, and isolation precautions
• Experience with chest tubes, PCA pumps, hemodialysis management, and phlebotomy required
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• First-time travelers accepted
• Epic experience preferred

Additional Information:

• Floating to other units within the facility may be required based on patient care needs
• Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
• Up to 7 days of time off allowed per contract (must be pre-approved, no holidays)
• Navy and white scrubs required
• Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours, completed using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge)
