Occupational Safety Technical Advisor (BWC Technical Resource Consultant) PN 20068090 & 20068089 (260004ZB) Work Location William Green Building, 30 West Spring Street, Columbus 43215-2256 Compensation $40.40/hr – $57.67/hr Schedule Full‑time, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Primary Job Skill Insurance Technical Skills Insurance, Occupational Safety Job Description Responsibilities: Serve as a safety expert by analyzing data, researching solutions, monitoring regulations, and creating educational materials to help prevent workplace injuries. Provide training for Ohio employers and BWC employees, identify training needs, and develop new classes to improve safety knowledge. Coach and mentor field staff by assessing their skills, offering feedback, creating new‑hire training, and ensuring consistent quality across the state. Conduct quality reviews of on‑site safety activities and consultative services to maintain accuracy and effectiveness. Lead regulator updates and special projects, including updating Ohio safety rules and presenting changes to the Board of Directors. OR completion of an undergraduate core program in business administration, risk management or a related field of study AND 3 years’ experience in a public or private organization involved in risk management or loss control activities AND 3 years’ experience in policy development. OR an equivalent of the minimum class qualifications listed above. Candidates with demonstrated safety experience are preferred. Salary Information: Hourly wage is expected to be paid at step 1 of the pay range for new state employees. Current state employees will be placed in the appropriate step based on union contract or applicable code. Movement to the next step occurs after six months of satisfactory performance, followed by annual advancement until the highest step is reached.
