The Associate Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5pm. May float to other practices as needed.

Location: 3300 N McColl Rd Ste J-L, McAllen, TX 78501

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greets patients as they arrive and manage appropriate standard wait times
• Processes walk-in patients and visitors
• Accurately schedules and coordinates patient appointments for assigned clinics
• Ability to work in a high call volume environment while meeting productivity and quality standards
• Analyzing provider schedules to ensure maximum capacity is met
• Obtains eligibility and benefit information in a timely manner: assigning FSC (Financial Class) entering benefits and all other related activities i.e. transfers, demographic data changes in Electronic Clinical Works (ECW)
• Registers patients in ECW including updating patient demographics, current insurance information, current primary care provider, emergency contacts, and all relevant fields
• Uses appropriate text templates in the electronic health record, and ability to multitask between business office systems and the electronic health record
• Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
• Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
• 1+ year of strong communication and customer service skills both in person and via phone
• 1+ year of working knowledge of general office procedures
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications

Preferred Qualification:

• 1+ year of related customer service work experience including data entry
• ICD 10 and CPT coding experience
• Prior experience with EMR computer applications
• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Fluent in Spanish/English
