Production Supervisor- 2nd Shift

Job Overview The Production Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations within a diverse and talented manufacturing team for one of our legacy sites within the metal solutions business unit. Beyond supervision, they also coach, resolve issues, train, and serve as a link between direct reports and upper management. Position: 2nd Shift – 6:00 pm to 2:30 am, Monday through Friday. OT as needed. Shift Details This position has the potential for overtime. Shift lengths vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours depending on work orders and season. Location 7301 Fairview Street, Houston, TX 77041 Responsibilities Facilitate the manufacture of building products to meet production demands while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity. Collaborate with plant leadership to develop staffing guidelines, optimizing resource utilization while controlling costs. Hire, supervise, evaluate, and replace staff as required to meet performance goals. Develop and train employees for increasing responsibilities; conduct periodic evaluations and hold daily safety and production meetings. Drive initiatives of 5S, cost reduction, and quality improvement. Conduct interviews and identify qualified candidates for hire. Assign personnel, oversee rotations, and maintain effective communication during shift changes and troubleshooting. Ensure accurate completion of paperwork related to line operation, including logs, audits, and corrective actions. Address urgent production or shipping requirements promptly, even if it disrupts the regular workflow. Understand and enforce all safety policies and regulations. Administer policies fairly and consistently. Provide coaching and counseling to employees and corrective action when needed, following company guidelines. Promote overall goals of the company in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Identify and assist with implementations for continuous process improvement. Use data to improve and refine production processes. Manage materials to reduce waste and support quality. Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely job completions. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and educate and train employees in a production environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Minimum of two years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required. Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, mentor, and train employees on a regular basis. Basic Microsoft Office knowledge required. Experience with side forklift, bander, nail gun, overhead crane, saws, stretch‑wrap machine, and various pneumatic equipment preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis, above shoulder height and below the waist. Mobility – ability to stand, bend, and remain on feet for prolonged periods. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non‑climate‑controlled environments. Noise tolerance – high noise levels.
