(RN) Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular ICU

CLIN NURSE 2 – Cardiovascular ICU Registered Nurse Department: LJ SCVC 3A CVICU. Worksite: Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. Appointment Type: Career. Percent: 90%. Work Schedule: Nights, 12‑hour shifts, Sunday‑Saturday. Pay Scale: $66.25 – $92.86 per hour. UC San Diego Health is a Magnet‑designated organization and ranked #1 in San Diego. Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center is a comprehensive cardiovascular center with heart‑transplant, VAD, and PTE programs. The Registered Nurse will provide direct patient care in a high‑acuity cardiovascular ICU setting, managing cardiac and lung transplant patients, VADs, PTE patients, CABG, valve, TAVR, and stroke interventions. The RN will identify and implement nursing interventions, evaluate results, and act as a resource to the nursing team while promoting compliance with policies and professional standards. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing school. RN license issued by the State of California. BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire; commitment to obtain ART within six months of hire date. Minimum of one year recent adult ICU experience. Adherence to UCSD Health Medical Center (C.A.R.I.N.G.) Standards of Performance and demonstrated professionalism in all aspects. Ability to function effectively in a high‑acuity, fast‑paced clinical environment, managing stress and workflow changes. Strong critical‑thinking and analytical skills to manage competing priorities and complex clinical situations. Effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in CVICU specialty. Positive, solution‑oriented approach that encourages teamwork and open communication. Preferred Qualifications BSN. CT/Heart experience. CCRN, CSC, and CMC certifications. Experience with cardiothoracic patients and balloon pumps, CRRT, VAD. Special Conditions Work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call, and locations as required by the 24‑hour medical center. Flexibility in scheduling to support unit operations and training. Candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending approval. Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Pay Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 – $193,892 (prorated for less than 100% appointment). Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 – $92.86. Additional Requirements Compliance with vaccination policies. Life‑support certifications (BLS, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person assessment.
