Senior Project Accountant

This position is an essential member of the Project and Cost Accounting team within the Finance department and will primarily focus on advanced project accounting and ASC 606 earnings recognition. Key responsibilities of the role include financial reporting, forecasting, and monitoring the financial health of our custom development projects from time of award through completion. Site Management and other departments rely on this position to provide timely, reliable and relevant financial information to help drive business decisions. Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintain systems and processes for project accounting in accordance with GAAP and Cambrex policies. Collaborate with Project Finance Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate invoicing in accordance with contract terms. Ensure SAP project hierarchies and transactions are set up to properly recognize revenue and costs for custom projects under ASC 606 accounting guidance. Responsible for the month-end close of the Project Systems module, prepare journal entries for adjustments and accruals, prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and analyze income statement results. Provide updates to projected revenue, COGS and profitability for inclusion in the monthly financial forecast and annual budget. Collaborate with multiple departments to develop cost & profit estimates for new projects and determine the financial impact of changes to ongoing projects. Keep stakeholders informed of changes to expected project margins including analysis of key cost drivers. Actively seek to increase profit margins by identifying opportunities for change orders and/or cost savings. Prepare and analyze routine and/or ad hoc reports for management. Assist with internal and external audits, tax reporting and Corporate requests as assigned. Maintain compliance with relevant Site and Corporate policies and procedures. Support management in identifying Operational Excellence opportunities to continuously improve Accounting process and procedures. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree, CPA and/or CMA designation preferred 3+ years of accounting experience, with experience in a manufacturing environment, project accounting and/or cost accounting role Solid understanding of GAAP accounting and Internal Controls requirements Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality work under strict timelines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform detailed and complex numerical computations Substantial experience with an enterprise software system, preferably SAP Strong computer skills on a Microsoft platform and Office suite, including advanced Excel skills #J-18808-Ljbffr Cambrex
