Positional Summary Perform routine manual tasks necessary to maintain Duke University buildings and facilities Key Position Duties * Clean and service assigned areas in University buildings and maintain sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of these duties. * Sweep, mop, buff and spray buff floors and vacuum rugs and carpets in assigned area as needed. Clean rest rooms, offices, and replenish supplies. * Wash windows, walls and other assigned areas. Pick up trash, empty garbage containers, and remove all trash to area for disposal. * Sanitize all trash containers as necessary to meet Health Department requirements. Maintain a running log of all calls received and all baggage placed in storage room. * Pack, unpack and assist in receiving, issuing and transporting materials; report needed items for reorder. * Aid in transferring various items between departments and throughout the University. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. * Perform related duties as assigned to meet departmental, Division and University goals and objectives, as assigned by their Supervisor, Director, or respective designees. Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies Required Minimum Education and Experience: * Education * Work requires ability to understand and follow instructions generally acquired through a partial high school education. * Experience * NONE * OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE. Physical Demands * Ability to move throughout residential buildings, * Moving heavy weighted materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs) * Self-movement/positioning to reach and clean various areas, including under or behind beds, desks, and other furniture. * Position self to reach materials on shelving units and/or clean higher areas including light fixtures, shelving, and other higher fixtures. * Potential transport and stock of assigned supplies and materials The incumbent must be able to complete all positional requirements outlined above with or without reasonable accommodations.
