Licensed Nurse Practitioner

Licensed Nurse PractitionerThis position supports the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), a sub-acute residential program, that provides clinical and medication management services to adults experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. The Advanced Practitioner will work within a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, wellness, and community stability. Services include performing complex advanced human support work in the care and treatment of individuals in a public health program, performing assessments and evaluations, determining diagnoses, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting lab results, providing education and counseling, making referrals, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the assigned program Manager/Director. Deliver comprehensive psychiatric, medical, and/or other related care to individuals with behavioral health needs. Conduct service-appropriate evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe and manage medications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Emphasize holistic care, patient education, and strategic clinical leadership.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct service appropriate evaluations and develop individualized treatment plansDiagnose health conditions and prescribe medicationsMonitor medication effectiveness and side effectsProvide brief medical consultation, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and supportive counselingCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams and care providersEducate patients and families on health conditions and treatment optionsMaintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health recordsParticipate in care coordination and strategic planning across programsServe as a clinical resource and mentor to other staffPosition Requirements:Minimum Qualifications—Education and Experience:Master's of Nursing Practice (MNP) or equivalent advanced nursing degree3-5 years of experience in behavioral health or related nursingRegistered Nurse license from the Virginia Board of Nursing (required)Nurse Practitioner license from the Virginia Board of Nursing (required)National Provider Identifier (NPI)Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) licenseBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationOR an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that demonstrates the capacity to perform the essential functions of the position, as permitted by applicable regulatory standards.Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with agency policy.Preferred Qualifications:American Nurses Credentialing Center - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Board CertificationCrisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certificationExperience in integrated care or community-based behavioral healthFamiliarity with electronic health record systemsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnostic criteria, and treatment protocolsSkill in conducting evaluations and managing complex clinical casesSkill in communicating effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teamsAbility to identify potential problems and implement solutionsAbility to educate and advocate for patientsAbility to learn and retain processes through instruction and apply them independentlyAbility to organize information and maintain accurate recordsSupervisory Responsibilities:This position serves as a lead worker, coordinating tasks and workflow for a team or unit.
