About the Position

Job Title: Dialysis RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Dialysis Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 34.5 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 1 year of dialysis experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with cannulation and de-cannulation; Previous experience in inpatient and outpatient dialysis; ICU or PCU background preferred Description: The unit consists of a 4 Station Dialysis Suite. Travelers will administer dialysis at the bedside and must be comfortable working independently. The Dialysis Suite sees approximately 12 patients per day. The bedside Dialysis RNs see approximately 9-10 patients daily. Each dialysis session lasts approximately 3 hours, with a maximum individual workload of 3 patients per day. Common diagnoses include both acute and chronic dialysis in adults only. Job duties include cannulation and de-cannulation of fistulas and dialysis catheters, testing and maintaining machines, and disinfecting machines between patients. Equipment used includes Fresenius AT 2000 and Portable WRH. Travelers are asked to be flexible and help fill gaps in the permanent staffing. Scheduling is done a month in advance. Every other Saturday is required for weekend shifts. There is no call requirement for travelers. Travelers may float throughout the hospital to administer inpatient dialysis. Scrub color is royal blue. No medical assistants or CNAs are currently available; hiring is in progress.
