Electrical Engineer IIThe Electrical Engineer II will apply their professional and technical expertise to designing electrical engineering concepts and options that align with the owner's vision for each project. This individual should have a solid understanding of the consulting engineering process and the contractual documents which are involved.ResponsibilitiesDetermine the scope of assigned projects and utilize software programs to create the electrical system designs including lighting, power distribution, emergency generation systems, fire alarm, security, or other electrical systemsDetermine cost-effective system layouts, quantities/sizes, and specifications, and verify code compliance of the system designsPreparation and layout of BIM drawings and coordination with all other disciplines at all phases of project production, including schematic design phase, design development phase, permitting phase, and construction documents phasePerform construction administration tasks including, but not limited to, site observations, shop drawing review, and preparation of punch listsDefine appropriate project scope and ensure it is accurately reflected in the contract documents. Proactively manage any possible scope of work variances to ensure client satisfaction and that projects stay on trackMaintain excellent business relationships and communication with clients, partners, architects, owners, other design and construction professionals, and various code officials regarding the overall engineering project, associated assignments, and action itemsSupport with mentoring more inexperienced electrical designersMiscellaneous duties, as assignedSkills & CompetenciesMeets deadlines, works independently or as part of a team, accountable, maintains focus on set objectives and goalsExcellent attention to detail and thoroughness in deliverables and communications, maintains high-quality standards, and good follow-up skillsEthical, honest, and accountable; maintains confidentiality, handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalismUses resources efficiently, strives to reduce costMonitors status of projects, thoroughly deals with project details, delivers clear, accurate depiction of statusRequired:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineeringAt least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design of commercial buildings, preferably in aviation, higher education, health care, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilitiesAt least 2 years of experience coordinating with multi-discipline engineering teamsExperience with a variety of project deliverable methods including design-build, design-bid-construct, fast-track and other construction delivery methodsRevit MEP proficiency required, and familiarity with other engineering software programsExcellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to clearly convey information, ideas, and concepts verbally, written, or in graphic formAbility to prepare original specifications for project systems and components, as well as complete project manuals with sub-consultant specifications when the company serves as the prime professionalPreferred:Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or Engineer in Training (EIT)
