Merenda Box is looking for an experienced Bakery Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our shop.

This role oversees the full in-store experience, including product and drink quality, customer service, team performance, store presentation, inventory, ordering, and daily systems. We are looking for someone who is organized, attentive to detail, comfortable leading a team, and always looking for opportunities to improve the customer experience and grow the business.

The right person notices the details that shape a great shop: a pastry case that could be presented better, a drink that needs more consistency, a customer who has been waiting too long, an employee who needs coaching, or an opportunity to increase sales. They set a strong standard for the team and make sure it is carried through consistently.

Merenda Box is a Brazilian-inspired bakery focused on handcrafted products, bold flavors, and sharing Brazilian food and culture with our community. We are a growing independent business and are looking for a manager who can help us continue raising the standard of our daily operation and customer experience.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the bakery.
• Lead, supervise, and support the store team.
• Train and coach employees on service, drinks, food handling, store procedures, and company standards.
• Monitor employee performance, attendance, and completion of assigned responsibilities.
• Help manage scheduling, shift coverage, and daily staffing needs.
• Open and close the store and ensure opening and closing procedures are completed correctly.
• Maintain high standards for product quality, freshness, presentation, and consistency.
• Ensure coffee, espresso beverages, and other drinks are prepared according to established standards.
• Monitor customer service and step in when needed to keep service friendly, efficient, and organized.
• Handle customer concerns and resolve issues professionally.
• Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the shop.
• Keep displays stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
• Manage store inventory and maintain appropriate par levels.
• Place orders for ingredients, beverages, packaging, and operating supplies.
• Receive deliveries and ensure products are stored and rotated properly.
• Monitor waste, shortages, and product usage.
• Maintain Toast, including menu items, pricing, availability, modifiers, and other store-level updates.
• Oversee cash-handling and register procedures.
• Help execute seasonal products, promotions, menu changes, and in-store initiatives.
• Review sales trends and customer behavior to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
• Look for ways to increase sales, improve merchandising, strengthen the customer experience, and encourage repeat business.

Qualifications:

• Previous management or supervisory experience in a bakery, café, coffee shop, restaurant, or similar food-service environment.
• Strong customer service and hospitality skills.
• Experience leading, training, and coaching employees.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• High attention to product quality, cleanliness, presentation, and detail.
• Comfortable managing inventory, ordering, and POS systems.
• Comfortable using spreadsheets and basic business reporting.
• Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable and able to work independently.
• Food-safety knowledge and ServSafe certification are a plus.
• Open availability, including weekends and holidays as required.

Compensation & Schedule:

• $18 + , based on experience.
• Full-time position, approximately 35 to 40 hours per week .
• Paid biweekly.
• Weekend availability is required.
