Key facts Location: Barcelona, Barcelona Engagement: Internship What you'll do Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations. Support the payroll team in maintaining employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status. Help verify and reconcile payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, and deductions, to ensure timely and accurate payroll disbursement. Collaborate with HR to ensure that all employee information is up to date and correctly reflected in the payroll system. Participate in the preparation of payroll reports for management, providing insights into payroll expenditures and trends. Assist in the resolution of payroll discrepancies and inquiries from employees, providing excellent customer service and support. Help maintain compliance with tax regulations and labor laws, ensuring that all payroll practices adhere to legal requirements. Contribute to the implementation of payroll software and tools, assisting in the transition to more efficient processes. Participate in audits and assist in the preparation of documentation required for internal and external reviews. Support the payroll team in various administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and documentation management. Engage in training sessions and workshops to enhance your understanding of payroll systems and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination regarding payroll matters. Requirements Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling numerical data. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with payroll software or systems is preferred. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated. Basic understanding of payroll processes and labor laws is a plus. A proactive attitude and willingness to learn about payroll and finance operations. Previous internship or work experience in finance or HR is advantageous but not mandatory. Nice to have Familiarity with payroll legislation in Spain and the European Union. Experience with data analysis and reporting tools. Knowledge of HR practices and employee benefits administration. Certification or coursework in payroll management or accounting. Fluency in additional languages is a plus, enhancing communication with diverse teams. Skills & tools Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with payroll software such as SAP, ADP, or similar platforms is beneficial. Strong analytical skills to interpret payroll data and generate reports. Excellent problem-solving abilities to address payroll-related issues effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
