Customer Service Representative

Job Summary Location: Maple Grove, MN. Supports the day‑to‑day operations of the Customer Service Team by promoting sales, obtaining orders, providing customer service, order entry, technical follow‑up, reporting, and product evaluation support. This role also involves marketing, billing, pricing, inventory, and training to meet branch sales and gross‑profit objectives. Essential Functions Work closely with sales and marketing staff to meet and exceed branch sales and gross profit objectives. Obtain orders and provide proactive customer service sales functions, including order entry, expediting, pricing, returns, coordinating deliveries, and follow‑up on customer inquiries. Provide timely follow‑up on customer technical inquiries and requests. Maintain Open Order Reports, Billing Block Reports, and other required reports consistently. Actively participate in the marketing and sale of Border States’ products and services. Consistently provide responsive, quality service to meet and exceed customer expectations. Provide input to BSE personnel on customer needs or concerns regarding pricing, inventory, products, competition, and procedures. Coordinate with the Customer Financial Services staff to resolve billing problems arising from pricing, shipping, delivery or other credit issues. Provide input to the pricing and purchasing areas on product evaluations, code descriptions, inventory management, pricing development, and related functions. Non‑essential Functions Attend sales meetings and training programs as required. Assist with sales meetings and trade shows as needed. Develop quotations and request bid or performance bonds for customers within company profit objectives and guidelines. Qualifications Minimum of a two‑year business/trade degree preferred or equivalent work experience. Minimum of two years of prior customer service, city desk or sales experience with strong knowledge of electrical products and systems preferred. Technical ability to understand electrical systems with a minimum of two years of prior electrical distribution experience preferred. Ability to read, write and speak in English preferred. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Internet, Email and SAP software. Skills and Abilities Excellent customer service skills, being competent, accurate, responsive and engaged. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and reading skills. Ability to plan and organize effectively. Physical Requirements Typical work may involve occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, and use of a computer and telephone throughout the day. The role may also include bending, stooping, climbing stairs and repetitive hand motions. Occasional travel and driving may be required. Compensation Pay range: $25.24 per hour to $36 per hour, depending on experience.
