Program Specialist

Overview The primary responsibilities of the Program Specialist include providing intensive and specialized supports for people who have an intellectual disability or mental illness. Program Specialists focus on domains such as personal care, recreation/leisure, vocational, safety, social, and/or community awareness and integration. Program Specialists provide individual supports to persons who have extraordinary behavioral or medical support needs. Schedule: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Location: Joliet, IL REPORTS TO: Network Director NETWORK OR DEPARTMENT: Network 6 Responsibilities Provides behavioral coaching to a person who has a developmental disability or mental illness in assigned treatment areas Completes progress reports and other necessary forms or documents Participates and interacts with individuals in various activities as specified in Individual Service Plans and Social Transition Plans Consults with Behavioral Analyst and Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional concerning appropriate goals, objectives, and treatment techniques Assists in the development and execution of goals and objectives for people served Makes suggestions for improving Organization and Program effectiveness and efficiency Completes a monthly report reflecting Program Specialist intervention Completes an annual report, that is assessed quarterly to track progress Assists with development and implementation of age-appropriate and functional training materials Assists with development of a monthly calendar Responsible for working with supervisor in the development of an individual plan of personal growth and development Transports persons served to and from activities as needed Works with independent living coaches in encouraging their professional growth and knowledge Skills and Abilities Able to make independent decisions and problem solve Able to deal tactfully with colleagues, program participants, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public Able to implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures, necessary for providing quality care Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Strongly self-motivated Physical Demands Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted Push and pull up to 75 pounds; push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds Perform physical movements including squatting, stooping, crouching, and kneeling Stand, sit, or remain stationary for extended periods Operate motor vehicles Perform repetitive hand and finger movements for computer and phone use Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field Valid Driver’s License Pace certification Health, Vision, Dental, and Life insurance Educational Assistance Paid time off Sick time Paid Holidays Personal Time Potential Year-End Bonus Employee Referral Program (Bounty Bucks) Disclaimer Duties and responsibilities may change, and new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
