JOB SUMMARY
This position is a Supervisor responsible for the supervision and management of the daily operations and activities of the assigned Pharmacy area. The Supervisor establishes the process for effective pharmacy operations including dispensing and distribution, monitoring, and compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Responsibilities include managing day‑to‑day operations, scheduling and workflows for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, leading, coaching and evaluating staff, ensuring quality, integrity of processes, and operational efficiency.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Establish responsibilities and schedules for pharmacists and technicians. Supervise day‑to‑day drug distribution and compounding activities. Assist in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of daily operations of the assigned pharmacy areas. Act as a role model and mentor, performing duties of a clinical pharmacist. Participate in development and evaluation of Departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance of policies, procedures and record keeping. Oversee and assist training of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students, and residents. Assist in budget adherence and perform special projects as assigned. Evaluate and conduct employee performance reviews. Abide by Joint Commission Requirements and hospital policies, including safety, quality programs and National Patient Safety Goals. Perform all duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, Service Standards, and Code of Conduct.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education, experience, licenses or certifications that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may qualify. Education: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. Experience: Completion of a PGY‑2 Residency program, OR completion of a PGY‑1 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency, OR PGY‑1 and 1 year of related hospital experience, OR Five (5) years of related hospital experience. License/Certification: RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support or Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA) RQI Healthcare Provider Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Pediatric Advanced Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA) Registered Pharmacist by California Board of PharmacyKNOWLEDGE
Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate staff. Ability to work effectively as a team player and leader. Knowledge of devices, information systems, automated and technical equipment used in pharmacy. Knowledge of pharmacologic interactions related to age, sex, disease states, concurrent drug therapy, foods, and diagnostic procedures. Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements. Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and disease states. Knowledge of proper handling and storing of pharmaceutical supplies. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pathology, chemistry, and mathematics related to pharmacy practice. Knowledge of prescription and non‑prescription drugs, indications, efficacy, dosage, mechanisms of action, disposition, contraindications, and side effects.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
