Sr. Python Developer /Financial Client

Sr. Python Developer with AWS Experience
Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Principal Financial Group is seeking a strong Python developer with experience in AWS. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure through code and data processing/transformation. This role involves day-to-day hands-on coding in Python.
Key Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with cloud, specifically AWS
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Financial services/investment management company experience
- Track record of 1+ years working on dedicated projects/programs
The team consists of 9 software engineers, 5 project team members, and this role, totaling 15 members.
Qualifications:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, engineering, or math-related field or equivalent experience and 4-6 years work experience or equivalent experience. Proven experience as an IT professional. Ability to obtain certification(s) in an IT related field is a plus. Basic knowledge of insurance and financial services products preferred. Basic planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, and communication skills required. Proficiency with database applications, knowledge of mainframe, distributed and/or web programming language. Basic leadership skills preferred. Excellent time management skills preferred. Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow. Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners. Some travel may be required, including overnight stays. May be required to provide on-call support.
Responsibilities:
- Work with guidance on software development/solutions
- Conduct analysis and development, elicit requirements, write correct and clean coding, automated testing, debugging, documentation, quality assurance review, implementation, and maintenance
- Work with guidance on multiple layers of the solution if needed
- Participate in technical design of features
