Maintenance Electrician - 1st Shift

Night Shift Maintenance Technician (Level 1)

This role is a full-time night shift Maintenance Technician position in a manufacturing environment, responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment and systems. You will work 12-hour shifts on a 4 days on / 4 days off schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., supporting continuous production operations and ensuring equipment reliability and safety.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on manufacturing equipment such as roll converters, extrusion lines, automated assembly lines, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Maintain and repair a wide range of manufacturing machinery to minimize downtime and support efficient production.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment life.
• Install equipment and electrical components, including wiring and controls, and test systems to confirm proper functioning.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving industrial controls, including 480V systems and PLC-related troubleshooting.
• Maintain the facility and associated equipment, addressing both routine and corrective maintenance needs.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance vendors and service providers to coordinate repairs and parts replacement.
• Complete and submit company purchase requisitions for tools, parts, and materials needed for maintenance work.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and in orderly condition to support safety and efficiency.
• Ensure all machinery and equipment comply with federal, state, and company safety standards.
• Read and interpret instructions, operations manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings to perform maintenance and fabrication tasks.
• Support machine installation, setup, and alignment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic connections.
• Participate in machine maintenance for CNC and other automated equipment, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet maintenance deadlines.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and contribute to a strong safety culture within the manufacturing environment.
• Be available to work overtime when required to support production schedules and urgent maintenance needs.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 35 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repair in an industrial setting.
• Strong electrical skills, including work with 480V systems and electrical troubleshooting.
• Experience with industrial controls and PLC troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, operations manuals, and follow step-by-step procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings and apply them to maintenance and fabrication tasks.
• Mechanically inclined and able to perform physical labor, including lifting and operating machinery.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, machine repair, and machine installation in a production environment.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools used for mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Demonstrated excellent safety record and consistent attendance.
• Ability to work overtime when required to support operational needs.
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple maintenance activities.
• High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial plant maintenance role, particularly with extrusion lines and automated assembly equipment.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and mechanical-electrical troubleshooting.
• Experience with CNC machine maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Fabrication experience, including working from blueprints to modify or create components.
• Strong initiative and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing setting focused on extrusion and production of roofing-related products such as shingles, flashing, metal borders, and other roofing components. Work is performed on the 3rd shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., following a 4 days on / 4 days off schedule with 12-hour shifts. The environment includes industrial machinery, roll converters, extrusion lines, automated assembly lines, and systems involving hydraulics and pneumatics. Safety is a top priority, with a strong emphasis on safe work practices, adherence to safety standards, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area. The position requires working in a typical industrial facility, operating and maintaining equipment, and wearing appropriate safety gear and attire suitable for a manufacturing environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Saginaw, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $60320.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
