Our organization is currently on the lookout for a Medical Director for the Living Donor Liver Transplant Program at North Shore University Hospital located in Manhasset, NY. This position is part of the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation and the Division of Hepatology .

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

• Board certification in transplant hepatology
• Ability to provide clinical leadership while also shaping strategy and program development
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in transplant hepatology is preferred
• Leadership experience in a healthcare environment, ideally within a large health system or academic medical institution
• Proven capability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ongoing education

This position entails managing the medical care of patients suffering from liver diseases, including those requiring liver transplants. We welcome applications from candidates at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels, depending on their qualifications and experience. Key responsibilities encompass:

• Diagnosing and treating liver disorders
• Evaluating candidates for liver transplantation
• Supervising pre- and post-transplant care
• Educating medical students, residents, and fellows in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology

Applicants should be board eligible or board certified in both Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology, with demonstrated expertise in General and Transplant Hepatology, as well as endoscopy. This role requires the ability to lead donor evaluations and select appropriate candidates for living donor liver transplants. Furthermore, the Medical Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining policies and guidelines, driving the strategic vision of the program, participating in relevant QAPI initiatives, and overseeing the overall program.

Excellence in clinical and diagnostic skills is essential, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective teamwork and patient care. Candidates must also be eligible for medical licensure in New York State. This position is open to individuals at various academic career stages, including assistant, associate, and full professor levels. Experience in academic research and teaching is highly regarded and will be considered a significant asset.
