Senior Legal Analyst (Paralegal)

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Legal Analyst (Paralegal) to join a dynamic legal team supporting critical public and water‑industry work. What You’ll Do Conduct legal research and draft, analyze, and manage a wide range of legal documents using your experience with legal research tools and public records processes Plan, develop, and manage cases, including gathering facts, interviewing clients, and making independent recommendations Review documents, analyze, draft, and prepare responses to public records requests Prepare administrative documents, reports, board letters, and agreements Review policies and procedures and recommend improvements Serve as a Project Manager on legal initiatives—monitoring scope, quality, budget, and schedules Participate in special projects, committees, and task forces across the organization E‑File documents in all state and federal courts in the form and manner required Organize and manage large volumes of documents with appropriate software or vendors for internal use and in coordination with outside counsel Interact with Metropolitan staff and members of the Metropolitan Board Provide administrative assistance and support during trial Monitor cases of interest to Metropolitan Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, paralegal certificate from a paralegal training program approved by the American Bar Association or a U.S. Department of Education nationally recognized accrediting agency, and at least six years of paralegal experience Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited law school and at least four years of relevant legal experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, a signed declaration from an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years or who has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years stating the person is qualified to perform paralegal tasks, and at least six years of paralegal experience Two years in an MWD Legal Analyst classification Benefits Competitive compensation Excellent medical, dental, life, vision plans Deferred compensation in the form of a 401(k) plan (with matching contribution) and a 457 plan Retirement benefits under the California Public Employees' Retirement System Tuition reimbursement Training and advancement opportunities Excellent working environment Public transportation reimbursements Hub of public transportation: rail, subway, buses, and taxis On‑site fitness center The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.
