Seafood Associate Team Leader (Assistant Department Manager)

Job Responsibilities Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising. Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets. Assist in analysis of sales, reports, and labor. Assist in annual sales and expense projections and budget preparation. Assist with ordering and inventory management. Work with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues. Act as point person and departmental person in charge in the absence of the Team Leader. Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution. Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale. Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers; respond promptly to customer needs and questions. Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to sustain a high‑performance team and minimize turnover. Communicate and maintain Team Member safety and security standards and provide timely performance evaluations. Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market vision and goals. Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory. Growth mindset toward greater responsibility and ownership. Desire to coach and mentor others for growth. Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills. Ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner. Thorough product knowledge. Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures. Demonstrated decision‑making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate. Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations‑related applications. Experience 18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months supervisory experience. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Standing or walking 6–8 hours during an 8‑hour workday. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling. Work requires motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals. Exposure to temperatures: less than 32 °F, 32–40 °F, and greater than 90 °F. Ability to work in wet and cold environments. Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery. Compensation and Benefits The wage range for this position is $22.55–$36.08 per hour, commensurate with experience.
