Senior Accountant

Overview A growing, multi‑state construction and development firm is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant to join its Phoenix‑based finance team. The role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in construction accounting, job costing, and multi‑entity financial management. This position works closely with executive leadership and offers clear growth potential into Controller or Assistant Controller‑level responsibilities. What You’ll Be Doing Manage the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close. Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities and states. Perform construction job cost accounting, ensuring proper cost allocation and project tracking. Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Partner with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate job cost reporting. Support year‑end audits and tax preparation. Help improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls. Provide financial reporting and analysis to support leadership decision‑making. Required Qualifications 5+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction accounting and job costing. Hands‑on experience with Sage 300 / Timberline. Experience supporting multiple legal entities. Solid understanding of the full accounting lifecycle. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Advanced Excel skills and financial reporting proficiency. Nice to Have Qualifications Additional construction accounting experience and familiarity with industry‑specific financial software.
