Project Manager III - Medicaid Fee For Service

Job Summary Exemption Status: United States of America (Exempt) Salary Range: $102,260 - $140,608 - $178,955 This position is not eligible for Sponsorship. Responsibilities Provide leadership, organization, and coordination for key initiatives related to MedImpact’s program and product offerings within the Government Programs and Services (GPS) department. Create, coordinate, and develop complete project plans and documentation, guiding multi‑disciplinary teams through all project lifecycle stages (vision, scope, requirements analysis, implementation). Partner with internal and external client counterparts, the Implementation Management team, IT, Account Management, Operations, Health Services, and other departments throughout the project. Lead teams for complex business projects across Medicare PartD, Medicaid programs (State FFS program, Medicare/Medicaid Program, Medicaid Managed Care, CHIP) and public marketplace exchange programs. Develop project prioritization, scope, scheduling, resource allocation, and staffing plans; ensure timely delivery of project deliverables within budget and resource constraints. Communicate status, risks, and issues to stakeholders, and lead issue resolution meetings. Maintain completeness of project documentation and obtain approvals at each project phase. Monitor project progress, assess milestones, identify potential concerns, and mitigate risks. Assess performance of assigned project personnel and provide feedback to management. Adhere to PMO best practices and standard approaches for project management, including work within regulatory agency timeframes where applicable. Assist in building the PMO by interviewing and mentoring new members. Handle client-facing responsibilities, including managing difficult situations, responding promptly to client needs, soliciting feedback, and meeting commitments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) with at least 9 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; 6 years of subject‑matter expertise in relevant areas. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project. PMP certification required; Six Sigma/Lean background desired (ideally obtained within the first 12 months of employment). Experience managing complex business projects that include business process, service delivery, and information technology solutions. Knowledge of systems development lifecycles and/or business process engineering methodology. Experience operating in a matrix management organization. Background in PBM, pharmaceutical or managed health care industry is a plus. Advanced presentation skills with the ability to tailor information to varying audiences. Strong conflict‑resolution skills, confidentiality, and emotional control. Excellent written and oral communication, including the ability to present data clearly and edit for grammar and clarity. Strategic thinking, business‑impact awareness, and the ability to align work with company goals. Ability to develop implementation plans, communicate changes, build commitment, and evaluate transition outcomes. Other Information Work Location: on‑site at San Diego Headquarters or other company location; remote location with management approval possible. Working Hours: flexible; may require working beyond traditional hours, nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. Travel: domestic travel up to 15% of the time.
