Quantitative Data Engineer

Seeking a highly skilled Quantitative Data Engineer to advance proprietary investment systems within a leading research-focused asset management firm in Northern New Jersey. Role Overview The Quantitative Data Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data infrastructure and models that support equity market investment strategies. This role requires expertise in financial data processing, analytics, and software development to enable data-informed decision-making in a fast-paced, research-oriented firm. Key Responsibilities Develop, refine, and maintain quantitative models supporting equity market strategies and trading algorithms Design and enhance proprietary financial data repositories, data warehouses, and market data platforms Automate, monitor, and improve ETL workflows across multiple data sources such as Bloomberg, Compustat, and CapIQ Build and manage reporting, analytics dashboards, and performance metrics platforms Collaborate with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers to fulfill data requests and support model development Optimize large-scale data processing pipelines and storage solutions for efficiency and accuracy Ensure data quality, consistency, and security in production environments Core Qualifications & Requirements Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field 2+ years of professional experience with software coding in Python, Julia, C++, or C# Strong proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, and relational database management, with Microsoft SQL Server experience preferred In-depth understanding of financial equity data and institutional data sources such as Bloomberg, Compustat, CapIQ (familiarity preferred) Experience processing large, complex datasets with high performance and reliability Advanced skills in mathematics and statistical analysis for quantitative modeling Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within diverse teams and stakeholder groups Nice-to-Have Qualifications Experience with financial data APIs and data integration tools Knowledge of machine learning techniques and statistical modeling Familiarity with cloud data services and frameworks (e.g., Azure, AWS) Prior exposure to data governance, security protocols, and compliance standards Core Technical Skills Programming: Python, Julia, C++, C# Databases: SQL Server, SQL, Data Warehousing, ETL processes Data Platforms: Bloomberg, Compustat, CapIQ, other financial data sources Data Processing: Large dataset management, automation, scripting Statistical & Mathematical Analysis: Quantitative modeling, analytics, data visualization Career Impact This role provides the unique opportunity to directly influence investment decisions through innovative data solutions, working within a collaborative environment that values technical expertise and strategic impact.
