Naval Architecture Graduate Associate - Clarendon (Arlington), VA

Position Description & Qualifications As a Naval Architecture Graduate Associate, you will support our Maritime Engineering, Technology & Sustainment (METS) Business Unit, which is responsible for industry‑leading capabilities in naval ship and submarine design, systems and engineering services, and production support, logistics and in‑service sustainment. You will join a team that is responsible for a multitude of various design efforts on a multitude of different vessels, on the many different U.S. Navy Programs and Contracts, as well as commercial vessels and systems. In your role you will utilize a variety of tools and software programs to perform analyses and design studies, likely involving ship hull structure and/or ship components, and assist in the preparation of reports to describe analysis and design efforts, summarizing results for customers and higher authorities. During your work experience you will gain exposure to a wide range of teams within the organization, including marine/mechanical engineering, electrical, design, procurement and program/project management. In this role, you will: Participate in a job rotational program to learn various aspects of business operations within a particular business unit. Provide support to more senior staff members. Assist with special projects as assigned. Be assigned a mentor for further training and professional development. Possess a degree of creativity and latitude. Assist with analysis and model construction. Develop calculations. Build design concepts and detail designs. Assist with preparation of reports. To be successful in this role, you should have: High School diploma and current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program. Ideal candidates are rising juniors, seniors, or Spring 2026 graduates (currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university). Preferred fields of study: Naval Architecture, Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, or a related field. Ability to obtain a Department of War (DoW) Secret security clearance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Self‑motivation with a strong work initiative and attention to detail. Strong customer service, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to travel up to 10%. Additional desired experience and skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience collaborating in a team environment.
