Job Overview Support the inpatient hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant unit on Feldberg 7 at Bidmc. This is an entry‑level nursing position for new graduate nurses, automatically enrolling candidates into the Transition to Practice: Nurse Residency Program. Essential Responsibilities Provide direct care to patients and make necessary nursing judgments. Systematically assess health‑care needs, formulate and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes. Coordinate patient care and direct assistive personnel to deliver safe, effective, timely, patient‑centered care. Collaborate with other health professionals to determine and address patients' and families' health‑care needs. Develop and maintain trusting relationships with patients and families. Communicate effectively in the exchange of information and act as a patient advocate. Maintain annual mandatory education requirements, including emergency skills and unit‑based competencies. Identify needs for continued growth and development in collaboration with the unit‑based educator or clinical nurse specialist. Demonstrate commitment to patients, staff, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, reflecting the organization’s goals and maintaining accountability for nursing practice and patient safety. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate. 0–1 year related nursing experience. Basic computer literacy and ability to navigate web‑based applications. Problem Solving – analyze varied situations with observational and knowledge‑based approaches. Customer Service – provide high‑level service to patients, visitors, staff, and external customers with active listening and problem‑solving skills; remain calm in stressful situations. Age‑Based Competencies Employees must be competent in providing patient care to the following age groups: neonatal (birth to 6 months), young adult (16–30 years), middle age (30–60 years), and elderly (60+ years). Physical Nature of the Job Medium physical work: exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently. Job requires standing and moving throughout most of the shift. Pay Range $38.00 – $98.19 per hour. Compensation may exceed the base rate due to factors such as seniority, education, training, certification, geography, job responsibilities, and applicable shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other additional pay practices.
