Position: Individual Giving Officer Organization Location: Common Hope, St. Paul, MN Reports To: Head of Individual Giving & Grants Position Type: Full-Time (40-hours per week), Benefit Eligible Work Location: Minneapolis–Saint Paul, MN Compensation: US$60,000–70,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Our Values: Hope, Empathy, Responsibility, Proactivity, Curiosity, Teamwork Position objective The Individual Giving Officer is responsible for executing donor engagement and retention strategies for entry- and mid-level individual donors, supporting the growth of sustainable philanthropic revenue. Working collaboratively with the Head of Individual Giving & Grants, the Development team, and cross-departmental partners, this role focuses on building authentic relationships, growing donor portfolios, and ensuring every donor feels connected to the mission they make possible. Key Responsibilities Donor Relationship Management (Entry & Mid-Level) Manage a defined portfolio of entry- and mid-level donors assigned by the Head of Individual Giving & Grants. Conduct personalized outreach (calls, emails, meetings) to build authentic relationships and strengthen donor engagement. Ensure donors receive timely, meaningful communication about the impact of their contributions. Identify opportunities to increase donor retention, engagement, and giving levels. Prospecting, Qualification & Portfolio Growth Support the qualification of prospective donors through research and data analysis (capacity, giving history, alignment). Engage prospects to assess interest and readiness for increased involvement. Promote recurring giving and participation in development initiatives. Identify donor interests across programs (Sponsorship, Visitor Experience, Pathway Program, events) and align outreach accordingly. Escalate qualified major gift prospects to the Head of Individual Giving & Grants for further cultivation and solicitation. Portfolio & Moves Management Maintain and execute engagement plans for assigned donors, including next steps and follow-ups. Track all donor interactions and progress within the donor database. Ensure consistent movement of donors through the engagement pipeline. Event Engagement & Donor Experience Support planning and execution of development and donor engagement events. Invite and coordinate participation of donors within assigned portfolio. Contribute to meaningful donor experiences that strengthen relationships and long-term engagement. Data, Reporting, and Accountability Maintain accurate, timely records of donor engagement activities in Raiser’s Edge NXT. Support tracking of key performance metrics: donor acquisition, retention, upgrades, and recurring giving. Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to fundraising reports. Track progress toward annual fundraising goals. Cross-Departmental Collaboration Work closely with Development, Finance, Communications, and Program teams to ensure alignment of data and messaging. Foster a collaborative culture that strengthens alignment between fundraising, programs, and communications. Adhere to organizational policies, donor confidentiality standards, and ethical fundraising practices. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Individual Giving & Grants. Qualifications and Experience Education —Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered. Professional Experience —2-4 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain donor relationships through consistent, personalized outreach. Experience managing or supporting donor portfolios preferred. Experience supporting donor engagement, retention, and recurring giving initiatives. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a service-oriented mindset. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on commitments. Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a multicultural, mission-driven environment. High level of initiative, accountability, and attention to detail. Experience coordinating or supporting events and/or volunteer engagement is a plus. Technical Skills —Experience using CRM/database systems (Raiser’s Edge or similar preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Basic understanding of donor segmentation and fundraising processes. Ability to track donor activity, maintain accurate records, and support reporting efforts. Familiarity with analyzing donor trends and supporting data-informed outreach. Additional Qualities —Experience using CRM/database systems (Raiser's Edge or similar preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Basic understanding of donor segmentation and fundraising processes. Ability to track donor activity, maintain accurate records, and support reporting efforts. Familiarity with analyzing donor trends and supporting data-informed outreach. Language, Cultural and Mission Alignment —Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred — you will be working with Spanish-language program data, collaborating with bilingual colleagues, and representing communities whose first language is Spanish. Demonstrated cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly in the context of Latin American or Guatemalan communities. Experience living, working, or volunteering in international, cross-cultural, or community development settings is a strong asset. A genuine passion for Guatemala.
