Staff Accountant

A growing construction company in White Plains is seeking a detail-oriented Contract Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and project financial reporting. This contract opportunity will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, tracking job costs, and ensuring the financial integrity of multiple ongoing construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and be comfortable stepping into a fast-paced project environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.Perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations.Track and analyze project costs, budgets, and job profitability.Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and construction revenue recognition.Review subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and change orders for accuracy.Support AIA billing, progress billing, and retainage tracking.Prepare financial statements and management reports.Assist with audit requests and year-end tax preparation.Partner with project managers to monitor project financial performance.Maintain ERP and accounting system data integrity.
